Is the same blood group enough?
No. In kidney transplantation, doctors also use tests that check the immune reaction between the donor's blood and the patient's blood. These tests help predict in advance how the immune system will respond to the new kidney.
Is a relative always a suitable donor?
Being related does not replace testing. The donor's health and the match of the donor-patient pair are assessed separately.
Who explains the result?
The transplant center team reviews the test results together with the patient's overall clinical situation. This website does not give a conclusion on whether a person may or may not be a donor based on test results.
