Living donation under the law: four conditions
The organ or tissue is given without pressure and without payment.

Who counts as a living donor?
Under the law, a living donor is a person who has given, voluntarily and free of charge, notarized written consent to the removal of their organ or tissue.
How is consent to donation given?
The donor must give voluntary, free-of-charge, notarized written consent. Before that, the donor must be warned about possible complications at least thirty days earlier, in writing and on video.
Who cannot be a donor?
The law lists the people from whom taking organs is banned: people under 18 (except for bone marrow), people with a mental disorder or those declared legally incapacitated, people deprived of liberty, people with Group I and Group II disability, pregnant women, and other categories. Is the process video recorded?
Yes, the law requires video recording of the transplantation process and of the warning given to the donor. The recording is medical confidentiality and is not disclosed except in cases stated in the law.
Can an organ be sold or bought?
No. Selling and buying human organs and tissues for transplantation is banned.
Can an organ be taken abroad?
No. Taking organs and tissues intended for transplantation out of the territory of Uzbekistan is banned.
Can a donor withdraw from the operation?
Under the law, a living donor has the right to withdraw before the operation begins. If your decision changes, tell the transplant team.
Who pays for treatment of donation complications?
A living donor has the right to free treatment for complications linked to the transplant.
Is the patient's consent needed?
Yes. Transplantation is done with the written consent of the recipient.
Where is information about donors and patients kept?
The law provides for a single state registry of donors, recipients, organs and tissues.
